The Life-Blood of Discipleship

from Open House Church Sermons · host KJ Tromp

A grape branch bears fruit only while it remains in the vine. Israel, God’s people, produced sour fruit, but Jesus is the true vine who succeeds where they failed. God carefully cleans His branches through the good news of Jesus, repeatedly cutting away pride, self-righteousness, complacency and self-interest. Remaining in Jesus leads disciples to draw others to God, not through eloquence or personal ability, but through His life in them. Their fruit shows they belong to Jesus and glorifies God.
