Risks are largely personal and typically covered under the homeowner’s insurance, so commercial church insurance is generally unnecessary. In phase two, the “portable church,” the church rents spaces such as school cafeterias, movie theaters, or rec centers, creating an increase in exposure. Leases commonly require general liability coverage so the church, not the landlord, is responsible for accidents.
