The Life Skills Your Kids Need Before Launch with Amy Carney

from No Guilt Mom | Overcoming Mom Guilt, Parenting Tips, & Self Care for Moms · host JoAnn Crohn | Parenting Coach & Mom Guilt Support

As parents, we can get so caught up in school/grades, sports, and so on, that we forget to teach our kids the basics. The life skills they need before launching into the world!   In this episode, we talk with Amy Carney, author of Parent on Purpose and 100 Questions for Mom Journal. She creates content and products to help parents raise their children with more joy and purpose. She has 19-year-old triplet sons (launched to 3 different colleges/states), an 18-year-old daughter is a senior (Yep- had 4 kids in 18 months), and adopted their youngest out of the foster care system in 2016. In addition to that, she’s fostering another 9-year-old son now to adopt this summer!   Amy tells us all about her "A-ha" moment when it became very apparent that their family needed to stop, rewind, and focus on life skills more with their kids and how that involved a cross-country trek in an RV! We discuss what life skills are the most important for kids to learn before they leave the house (and cursive is not on that list), as well as what are some tips on how parents can be more intentional every day in their parenting.   Resources We Shared: Follow us on Instagram HERE!   Parent on Purpose: A Courageous Approach to Raising Children in a Complicated World   Parent on Purpose   The Addiction Inoculation Podcast Ep 60 Guarding Kids Against Addiction with Jessica Lahey   Kid90 documentary   Leave Us a Podcast Review (How to Video)   Download the transcript HERE Check out our favorite deals from our sponsors here!   The best mom is a happy mom.
