Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl and you are tuned in to try It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Today I'm gonna talk about Michelle Obama and her advice. Let's get started Hey there welcome back to the show first off.

Let me say this weird at the time though seriously How is it that we're only a couple days out from Chris's and I have got zero accomplished no presence no nothing So as soon as I'm done recording this episode, I gotta hit the streets Because yeah, I have let entirely too much time get away I don't know what I've been doing but I've been doing the wrong thing because I have had my priorities in the wrong place So let's go ahead and get into today's episode. We're talking about Michelle Obama and her book the light we carry now Let me say this first. I have not read the book yet, and this is what I do. This is what I this is how I process things I'm not that person that jumps out in front and has to be the first to get things I'm not gonna be camping out in the line to get the first iPhone or the latest iPhone should I say that's not gonna be me I'm gonna be the person this gonna let other people get it let them work out the kinks Let them say what they like and don't like about it, and then I'll make the decisions from there now It's a little bit different when it comes to literature I'll hear what people have to say, but then as I'm reading the book or listening to it Because a lot of times I do audio books I then look for the things that they're saying I look for the criticisms And then that way I am like oh wow that person was completely off base with what they said or oh they were spot on about it Because a lot of times they don't give up the gems anyway So in a book like the light we carry Michelle Obama goes into Stories and whatnot so nobody's telling the stories in their reviews.

They're just kind of Skimming over the top and saying what it is that they think about the information that was provided now honestly forever Flotis I don't know that she could ever say anything that I wouldn't be interested in hearing But it's interesting the way that some people kind of categorize the things that she said in the way that she said it Because not so much from the book But there's been a lot of chatter about the stuff that she said in the various interviews and group little chat sessions that she's done around her book tour and That was kind of what got me kind of curious because I'm like yeah I plan on getting the book, but I'm curious because I don't understand why people are tripping the way that they are So let's kind of get into a little bit of that What about your friends? Will they stand the ground? Will they let you down? One of the chapters in Michelle Obama's book is on friendship And this is one of those things that kind of hits close to home for me because I feel like I have Some good friends now They're very few then I can kind of likes it down and just spill the beans into like all right This is situation.

What do you think? I thought I had more but as time goes on people show you who they are or you know Life happens and they get kind of caught up in what they're doing So therefore they don't have as much time for you and I understand that because I've been there as well I've had life situations happen where you know I'm not available to my friends like I would like to be or like they might need for me to be So in this chapter in her book she talks about the importance of having a kitchen table of girlfriends And I am all for that That's one of those things that I plan on instilling in my daughter to make sure that she is nurturing the relationships that she has with her friends And I mean I'm kind of there already because I'm messing your kids She has some friends and every now and I have to kind of check on her and be like hey Have you checked on your friends? Have you said hi? Have you sent them a message or anything just to nurture that relationship because we all know that people will invite you to things They'll make you aware of stuff going on But the more you kind of step away like no thanks.

Sorry can't do it the more you do that the more you distance yourself from those people And then eventually they stop asking and so then you can go ahead and mark them off the friend list because Where they may still be a friend. They're not a kitchen table friend They're not somebody that's gonna come to you with their problems because they're gonna think that you're too busy for them And I don't want people to feel that way about me and I surely don't want to feel that way about other people because as human beings We're a social type of Preacher we that's what we do we thrive off of interactions with other people and therefore being able to have that tight knit good girlfriend group That's everything like there are some celebrities that I say to myself like yeah You're in you're in my group. You would be one of the ones that I would be like hey girl Let me talk to you real quick But what I find as a problem currently for me is that I have good girlfriends But like I can't pull them all together at the table because they don't mesh together So I have one group which would be a group of girls from college We all know each other we all were friends together So that would be the only group that I can really pull together But because we all live in different states, it's kind of like oh man So you know maybe we might have to do a zoom type session where everybody can get on the zoom and chat that way But outside of that in my local area. I don't have that I'd have to do onesie two z's talk to this person here and that person there But I wouldn't have a collective and so that to me is priceless Everybody needs that kitchen table of girlfriends and so I haven't even read that part of the book yet But I'm like oh yeah, Michelle you're spot on All right down to the nitty gritty people were losing their minds over the fact that Michelle Obama was having these straight up serious conversations About a time period where she did not like her husband It was a ten-year time period and if you just listen to that as a little snippet it might sound a little crazy But then you go and you listen to the entire conversation and you're like ah I see where you're coming from and that makes complete sense to me.

You got these two professionals You they they are doing their thing They know what their their gig is and then they have kids and now rather than having two professionals You got one professional and then you got this other person that has now left their one professional role And now they're a novice and they're having to learn how to be a professional when it comes to parenting and then They're looking at this other person like how is it you get to do all the same stuff that you've been doing? And now I've got to learn this new role and as much as I love these little people Man, oh man, I'm not feeling you right now because you still going to the gym You still you know going to work and have a meetings and the same other thing and I am here trying to figure this thing out The best way that I can so I get it makes complete sense to me So I'm not understanding why people were losing their ish about this like seriously Do you have kids cuz in my mind one leader don't have kids they're either not married You know, they're all these things that the reason why they can't understand it is because they can't relate to it Unbelievable so as she is telling these different stories I love the fact that she's being transparent about her stuff and it's like, you know, don't look at us like we're the perfect couple because There was a time period when but the thing is, you know, the but God moment and that is but we still together But we worked it out we figured it out We did this and you know, he took a more active role And we worked out ways that he could do and then I can go and do things and feel like a whole person as well That's the that's the but God moment in it but people People got issues because I'm sitting here like, you know, if you've got a marriage where it's all fun and no work You need to write a book you need to tell the rest of us how you did it and just lay out the blueprint So that everybody else can have all fun marriage and it be no work It'd be no conflict it'd be none of the bad stuff and all of the good stuff show us because if you got the magic ticket You understand you got the little berry pixie does somewhere in your back pocket. You need to share that you need to put it on the market So mind blown as to why people had such an issue here in Michelle Obama say that, you know Our relationship is no bed of roses and I can be this way that way the next way Yeah, so blown away, but she's a person too Thanks for listening to today's episode bottom line is I look at it like this people who have negative stuff to say about Michelle Obama's book I'm thinking they're either from the other side of the aisle or they just can't relate to who she is and how she operates But when I hear that she says that she's a world-class warrior. She avoids change.

She's a bit of a nervous Nellie She's not spontaneous that you know She doesn't always like the way that she looks or you know She feels like an outsider and can feel lonely at times and sometimes she wonders if she's good enough and you know Those types of things I look at that and I'm like sign me up I want to read this book because she just described me I'm all of those things and then some so the fact that she's putting this book together and then on top of that She even says, you know, this isn't the answer, but this is how I have worked through things This is how I have managed and maybe it might help you I can appreciate that because there are some people out there that will tell you that they have all the answers And this is how you do it And if you do it this way then bam, you've made it and that's not how it works So the fact that she's being open and honest and saying here I'm putting this out here. It might help you if so yay This is my contribution to the world. This is my contribution to you But if this isn't you then guess what you can keep this keep that then don't focus on this Find the thing that works for you. So I can appreciate that So I will be reading the book and I may have to come back and revisit this and add some more feedback that I have My own personal reading of the book, but for my task in looking to see what other people are saying about the book This is a definite must read for me And if you're anything like me, I think you should go out and get it for yourself for Christmas too
