In 1997, the Lillelid family was on their way home from a Jehovah's Witness retreat in Johnson City, Tennessee. Vidar, Delphina, and their two children, 6-year-old Tabitha and 2-year-old Peter stopped at a rest area to picnic. That's where they encountered a group of six young people who were travelling, trying to leave their lives in their small Kentucky town behind.
