The little girl with the red shoes

Today I was reminded of an allegory of a fast train ride on a steep mountain. All the passengers were terrified that the train was going to fall off the side of the mountain, except for one little girl who was nonchalantly swinging her feet, with her little red shoes not even reaching the ground. When asked why she was so calm, she looked up and said that her father was the train driver so she knew all would be well. This story is a lovely way to remind us that God is in full control of events around us and we need not fear. "The Lord's my shepherd" (Psalm 23:1) assures us of this. Sheep do not co-shepherd with the shepherd. The shepherd is in charge and he lovingly leads and protects his sheep. "The Lord will watch over you, your coming and your going, both now and forevermore". (Psalm 121:8)
