The Long Hallway at the Desert Moon Motel

Luna finds herself at the Desert Moon Motel outside Tonopah, Nevada, in the dead of winter. The night clerk gives her a key to Room 12 at the far end of a hallway that seems to stretch on forever. As she walks, she notices the doors are numbered wrong, and the carpet is damp in places. She meets a man in a blue jacket who tells her he's been walking for hours. There's no end to the hallway, he says. Just doors that open onto other hallways. Luna's own room number keeps changing. She stops walking and sits down against the wall, because there's nothing else to do.
