The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim - MOVIE REVIEW

from MOVIE Morning · host Gyan Chansrichawla

Hey everyone, it's finally time to return to Middle Earth! The latest attempt at reviving the iconic Tolkien franchise on the big screen, but this time it's anime-inspired. The original trilogy is comprised of movies that are all some of my favorite movies of all-time. Return of the King - in particular - is an easy top 5 favorite movie ever for me. I have been watching these movies as long as I can remember and I honestly think, while not great, The Hobbit movies are somewhat over-hated. That being said, I went into War of the Rohirrim with virtually no interest, due to the bland marketing and being someone who's not fully into anime. I respect WB taking a big swing with this franchise but the style and story did not seem very interesting to me. Does it live up to the best of the franchise or is it going to match the diminishing returns this franchise has had since the trilogy? Find out in this review! The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim: Directed by: Kenji Kamiyama Screenplay by: Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews and Phoebe Gittins & Arty Papageorgiou Based on characters created by: J.R.R. Tolkien Story by: Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews and Philippa Boyens Produced by: Philippa Boyens, Joseph Chou, Jason DeMarco Executive Producers: Carolyn Blackwood, Pete Chiappetta, Toby Emmerich, Peter Jackson, Ken Kamins, Andrew Lary, Sam Register, Anthony Tittanegro, Fran Walsh Music by: Stephen Gallagher Edited by: Tsuyoshi Sadamatsu Casting by: Andy Brierley Cast: Brian Cox, Gaia Wise, Miranda Otto, Luke Pasqualino Synopsis: 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy, a sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm Hammerhand and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
