The Lost Princess of Oz Chapter 12 - The Czarover of Herku

In which a curious party of friends discovers the walled city of Herku, inhabited by strong yet strangely thin people and guarded by obedient giants, where they meet the diminutive but mighty Czarover who shares tales of a powerful magician named Ugu the Shoemaker. After receiving both warning and a precious gift, the travellers prepare to venture onwards to the mysterious wicker castle in the mountains, hopeful and undeterred.
