If "news" networks are choosing to only report about CERTAIN stories, then what about the stories they avoid? Why is that done?  And if your "news" is a coordinated effort, and if certain scientific research is scripted, and if your educational program is scripted, then what happens to simply seeking the truth? What techniques do magicians employ? Focussing your attention on WHAT they want you to see, and distraction.
