from 60 Seconds of Hope with Horace McMillon · host Horace McMillon
Send us Fan MailThe Magnificat: Celebrating the Vision (Advent 21)“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowly state of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed.” -Luke 1:46-48These verses are from Mary’s celebration. She had just embraced a mission and a calling for her life. The Angel had proposed that she take on the task of becoming mother of a child who would grow up to upend human history. Mary celebrated though nothing had happened yet. She celebrated despite facing a great deal of risk and uncertainty. What would happen to her if her fiancée left her? Would her family kick her out for shaming them? Mary faced danger and uncertainty with fierce determination and great joy. In modern slang, Mary was a gangster. She didn’t care what problems she was going to face, because her vision was bigger than her problems. When our vision is bigger than our problems, we can sing our own Magnificat. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you. #60secondsofhope Support the show
