The Mahi Effect

One small flash on the surface can change everything. We open with a fishing story about mahi mahi and the way a whole school rushes toward a sign of food, then we connect it to Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:16: “let your light shine before others” so people see good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.We talk honestly about what shining is and what it is not. It is the natural overflow of knowing who we are in Christ, a kind of steady joy that makes people ask, “How do they live like that?” We also name something many of us avoid: being a light includes suffering and suffering well, because durable hope stands out in a dark world.Then we get practical about Christian discipleship, local outreach, and community service. When we meet real physical needs, people notice. Clothes, meals, free barbecues, fixing an AC, doing yard work, paying for a stranger’s food, helping a neighbor, these visible good works become a clear sign that someone truly cares.
