October 2018. A rundown motor lodge on the outskirts of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Luna checks in late, exhausted from a long drive. The night clerk warns her about the man in room 13, but not why. All night, she hears the door across the hall open and close, open and close — always at odd intervals, always with no footsteps.
