The Man Jesus Called A Fool (Glenn Goggans)

In this sermon, we will explore Jesus’ parable of the rich fool, a man who hoarded his wealth but neglected the state of his soul. When asked to intervene in a family dispute over inheritance, Jesus warns against greed, telling the story of a man who, after a bountiful harvest, decides to store up his riches for himself. He plans for a life of ease, saying, “Eat, drink, and be merry,” but God calls him a fool, declaring that his life will be taken that very night, leaving his wealth behind. Through this message, we will examine why Jesus considered this man a fool—not because of his wealth, but because of his misplaced priorities. We’ll reflect on the dangers of placing trust in material security instead of seeking “riches toward God.” This sermon will challenge us to think about what we truly treasure in life and whether we are preparing for eternity or simply building barns for ourselves here on earth.
