Luna pulls over at Mile 204 just after midnight in October 2021, her headlights catching a man sitting at a concrete picnic table with no car, no bag, no phone. He is watching the overpass. He has been watching it every night for fourteen years. He tells her about the woman who walks across the bridge at exactly 3:07 a.m., the one who stopped walking in 2009, the one who still crosses every night but never reaches the other side. Luna stays until dawn, watching with him, and when she leaves she checks her rearview mirror and sees him still sitting there. She also sees something else on the overpass. A figure. Wearing a grey coat. Not moving.
