In which we observe the industrious and amiable Barty Josselin as he embarks upon his artistic studies amidst the charming environs of Paris, Antwerp, and Brussels, making friends and cultivating a refined appreciation of music and society. Yet amidst this bustling progress and congenial life, a sudden and unsettling affliction of his eyesight casts a shadow upon his otherwise felicitous existence, leading him to seek counsel and remedies in the quaint seaside town of Blankenberghe.
