Stripped of their monastery, their habits, and finally their freedom, they refuse to abandon their vows or their life of prayer, offering themselves as an act of intercession for their country and the Church.  This series contains moments of extreme fear and intensity. It is set during the Reign of Terror, and revolutionary soldiers force their way into the monastery to seize its goods before the sisters are arrested and imprisoned. There are references to the wider violence of the Revolution, including the executions of Queen Marie-Antoinette and, at the end, of Robespierre. The most intense event is the climax, when the sixteen sisters are condemned as "enemies of the people" and go to the guillotine, singing as they die. 📱 Social Media https://www.facebook.com/themerrybeggars https://www.instagram.com/themerrybeggars https://twitter.com/themerrybeggars https://www.linkedin.com/company/themerrybeggars
