The Matt Mani Podcast Episode 47: Positive Affirmations, For Your Dog. In this episode I compare and contrast the experiences myself and my girlfriend have on the internet. How do we spend our time, what do we look at, what do the algorithms serve up? In addition, I exploring how useless I would be if I ever went back in time. I examine how all of human knowledge is dependent on the ingenuity, creativity, and hard work of generations of other people. More specifically, I look at the history of Ice and how human beings created a system for measuring temperature. This takes me from ancient Egyptians to the work of Daniel Fahrenheit, Anders Celsius, and Lord Kelvin aka William Thomson. Inevitably this leads to a discussion of how Ice influenced cocktails and the drinking culture of the 20th century. I parlay this into my travels in Japan, drinking whiskey, and my first experience with hand chiseled ice. Similarly, I explore the artistry of bartending and look at a YouTube channel Samurai Bartender.
