The Matthew Project, Part 3 - 'The Son of Man' as a Major Theme of this Gospel

The Gospel of Matthew is the first Book in the New Testament. It builds on the Old Testament which finishes in the Christian bible with Malachi's prophecy about the hope of the physical coming of the Lord into His Temple. Malachi also prophesied that one would precede the coming of the LORD who also come in the spirit of Elijah. Jesus tells His disciples that this was John the Baptist. In this episode we explore why Jesus preferred to identify Himself as "the Son of Man" and see why this indicated His deity not His humanity.
