The Matthew Project, Part 8 - Do Not Fear Them

The Gospel of Matthew was written by an eye-witness of Jesus the Christ - what He did, what He taught, the miracles He performed, the lives He transformed, and how people responded to Him. It was originally written to Jews who were eagerly looking forward to the arrival of their promised anointed Messiah. After being with Jesus for nearly three years in which the 12 disciples heard what Jesus preached and saw the miracles He performed, Christ commissioned His disciples to go out in pairs and do likewise. But He also warned them that ultimately the day would come when they would be persecuted for no other reason than they were His disciples. But Jesus gives His original disciples reasons to not fear those who oppose them. We can also be confident that ultimately, we too have no reason to fear our opponents either.
