The Meek—The Blessed Life—Josiah Kagin

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Jesus wants His followers to be different. Different from the rest of the world and different from man-centers religious traditions. He preach the sermon on the mount in an effort to announce a sort of constitution for His yet future millennial kingdom as well as the spiritual kingdom He was setting up in the hearts of those who would believe on Him. His message was counter-cultural and for growing believers, very challenging. He has called His disciples to develop an attitude of humility before God, brokenness over sin and now submission before God and gentleness toward their fellowman. This beatitude is rich with application and we will do well as we heed the voice of our Savior.
