The Messy Middle

from In the WILD Podcast · host Cookie

The Messy Middle explores the part of grief we don’t talk about enough—the space between knowing we deserve better and still grieving what we had, what we hoped for, and what we thought the future would be. In this episode of In the Wild Podcast, I’m getting honest about grieving relationships that were not healthy for me, reaching for alcohol when the emotions become too heavy, and learning that healing doesn’t happen in a straight line. We’ll unpack the stages of grief—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance—and how we can move between them from one day, or even one moment, to the next. Because acceptance doesn’t mean the pain suddenly disappears. Missing someone doesn’t mean we’re meant to return. And struggling again doesn’t erase all the progress we’ve already made. Sometimes we aren’t back at the beginning—we’re simply standing in the messy middle, learning how to feel the pain without abandoning ourselves.
