The Mexica Migration: From Aztlan to the Eagle's Promise

Before Tenochtitlan rose from Lake Texcoco, the Mexica people wandered for generations. In this episode, Lucas and Luna trace the legendary migration from the mythical island of Aztlan, guided by the god Huitzilopochtli. They follow the Mexica through centuries of wandering, their political struggles with the Tepanecs of Azcapotzalco, and the dramatic omen of an eagle perched on a nopal cactus that marked the founding of their island capital in 1325. The story covers key figures like the war chief Tenoch, the first tlatoani Acamapichtli, and the early alliances that would eventually forge the Aztec Empire. Along the way, we explore how Mexica identity was shaped by hardship, prophecy, and adaptation—turning a band of outcasts into the rulers of Mesoamerica. This is the origin story that every Tenochtitlan episode has been building toward. #Mexica #Aztec #Tenochtitlan #Aztlan #Huitzilopochtli #EagleCactus #Acamapichtli #Tenoch #Chapultepec #Mesoamerica #Migration #FoundingMyth #History #FexingoHistory #AztecEmpire #Tepanecs #LakeTexcoco #Nopal Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
