The Mindful Minute - Child's Pose

from The YOGI M.D. Podcast · host Nadine Kelly

Child’s pose is a forward fold, a calming and resting pose in yoga. It can be done to take a time out during a challenging yoga practice, at the end of a yoga practice, at the end of a tiring day as a short yoga practice….the limits are your imagination. This is one of my favorite ways to do it. On the floor, kneel, widen your knees, and allow your big toes to touch. Fold forward and rest your forehead or either cheek on your forearms. If you are uncomfortable, you can use a pillow to cushion your knees/under your abdomen and hips/under your arms and head. If the floor is uncomfortable, sit in a chair with legs wide. Place pillows on the seat of a chair facing you, and fold forward. As you breathe, gently expand your back muscles to release tightness and stay as long as you are comfortable.

Learn two variations of Child's Pose to relax.
