The Mindy Project - The Devil Wears Lands' End
from The Rank Hosted by The Rank Podcast
👊😂 John’s back at Shulman & Associates for The Mindy Project — Season 3, Episode 5: “The Devil Wears Lands’ End.” In this episode, Mindy (Mindy Kaling) finds herself in a full-blown fashion showdown with Danny (Chris Messina) when he starts policing her wardrobe at work. Danny insists Mindy’s revealing outfits undermine her professionalism as a doctor, pushing her toward bland, conservative “Lands’ End” style — and Mindy is not having it. What begins as a debate about clothes quickly turns into a bigger argument about control, respect, and identity inside their still-new relationship. John breaks down why “The Devil Wears Lands’ End” stands out as a defining Danny/Mindy episode: it tackles gender expectations, professional double standards, and autonomy without losing the show’s fast-paced joke delivery. He discusses whether the episode successfully balances its message with comedy, how Mindy Kaling uses fashion as character storytelling, and if Danny’s arc here is growth or backsliding.
