Anger, quarrelling and immodest clothing were disrupting the Ephesian church’s prayer and gospel mission. Paul answers that disorder by assigning authoritative teaching and eldership to qualified men, grounding these roles in Adam and Eve’s creation. Yet this restriction neither bars women from teaching in public life nor stops men and women encouraging each other with Scripture. Different roles do not mean different worth.
