The Mirror Effect: How relationships reveal our shadow

from Souls and Stardust · host Shannon and Meo

The second episode in the series about shadow work, Meo and Shannon discuss how relationships act as mirrors for us, reflecting back to us our unresolved issues, hidden traits, and subconscious fears. Partners, close friends, and family members can trigger emotions and behaviors in us that highlight aspects of ourselves that we've either wanted to hide away for good, or that we never really realized were lurking in the corners of our being. Issues. We've all got them. And we all get triggered. And many times our partners and closest confidants are the ones who reveal to us our biggest and deepest inner shadow work. Be it mirroring, emotional triggers, conflict, projection, control issues, or fear of intimacy and vulnerability, our relationships many times are our biggest teachers. And let's be honest... we can do a lot of healing on our own, but so much healing cannot happen for us unless we're in the very partnership dynamics that created our fears, insecurities, and inner child wounds. Yay!! Fun stuff, right? Meo and Shannon talk about how this all works and, through personal examples and client work, they share ways this shadow work can manifest in relationships, and how you can hope to begin the deep work and come out the other side with more healing and growth. Many times those who are catalyzing the most growth for us in relationships have specific soul contracts with us for exactly that kind of experience. It's not always enjoyable. That makes them a soulmate; and that's a pretty effing important job.
