Even with the best DE&I programs, minorities will still experience microaggressions, implicit bias, and fear of retaliation. That' why top-down DE&I programs are needed but not enough. A bottom-up DE&I aimed at giving the minorities the skills to advocate for themselves is also needed. Assertive communication is the best bottom-up approach to DE&I.
