The Missing Letter

Originally Aired: February 23, 1938The Lone Ranger #792, "The Missing Letter," a Pony Express rider races across the plains carrying important papers destined for Silver Gulch when he's ambushed and shot from his horse. The Lone Ranger and Tonto, camped along the route, spot the riderless horse galloping past and immediately recognize something is wrong. Knowing that mail carriers never simply fall from their mounts, the masked rider and his faithful companion head back along the trail to investigate.Meanwhile, in Silver Gulch, prospector Jim Flood and his wife Ruth face desperate circumstances. Jim has discovered a fortune in gold on his hillside claim, but his greedy neighbor Harve Riggs has obtained a legal injunction preventing him from digging because the loose shale slides down onto Riggs' property below. Riggs offers a mere $150 for Jim's valuable claim while demanding $1,000 for his own worthless land, effectively trapping the Floods between legal constraints and grinding poverty. As Jim waits in vain for an offer from an Eastern mining syndicate, the missing Pony Express letter may hold the key to his salvation.
