The Moehau Man

from Walking the Shadowlands

Throughout the world there are stories and legends of huge, hairy, ape-like creatures that have persisted over the centuries, through re-tellings of cultural myths and legends. Also ,of actual reported sightings of such creatures. These beings go by many different names. In North America, they are called Sasquatch, or the more common name of Bigfoot. Across the ditch in Australia, they are called the Yowie. In the Himalayas and parts of Asia they are called the Yeti, or the Meh Teh. So many different names for the same creature, or family of creatures. New Zealand with our geographical isolation is not immune from such a being. We call ours the Moehau Man. He also has other names in New Zealand, dependent on the part of the country he is seen in. Names such as Maero, Matau, Tuuhourangi, Taongina, and Rapuwai. In this episode I explore the myths of this creature. Hear actual reported sightings, and finally I interview a guest Marc Copell who is has had actually experiences with these creatures and is now in the process of creating a documentary about them. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/walking-the-shadowlands/message
