The Moment After Death

Mortality = The Moment After Death  Luke 16:19-31 Is a story that Christ told, not a parable. Helps us to see a little of what happens after death. What does not happen! 1. Cease to Exist - Hebrews 9:27 And in as much as it appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment. 2. Fall Asleep - Hebrews 2:16 - For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 3. Transform into something else - Do not have a set of wings What does happen! Death is 1. Immediate - Luke 23:43 - Jesus says "Today you will be with me in paradise" to the one nearby on the cross who said, "Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom." 2. Irreversible - don't get another chance Luke 16:26 - Between heaven & hell there is a great chasm that has been fixed. 3. Imcomplete - 2 Peter 3:10-14 - But day of the Lord is like a thief.  An end is coming.  Jesus is the ark for the next judgment. God has something better than the present heaven.  The new heaven will be in its completion when God comes back.
