The Monastery Chapter 22

In which the young Halbert Glendinning, haunted by the fatal duel he has just fought, beseeches aid from a mysterious stranger to tend the wounded Sir Piercie Shafton, only to find the knight vanished and a fresh peril looming in his path. Together, they set forth through a wild and solitary glen towards the Castle of Avenel, where uneasy alliances and uncertain refuge await the distressed youth.
