The Monastery Chapter 28 Part 1

In which the tender-hearted Mysie Happer, imprisoned by circumstance in a chamber adjoining that of the captive Sir Piercie Shafton, becomes an unwilling yet ardent listener to perilous plots and, swayed by pity and admiration, resolves to undertake a daring nocturnal venture for his deliverance. As the night deepens and the castle lapses into slumber, she steels herself to awaken the sleeping knight with a whispered promise of aid, embarking upon a course of generous though hazardous enterprise.
