The Monastery Chapter 29 Part 2
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which Sir Piercie Shafton's encounter with the shrewd and spirited miller's daughter, Mysie Happer, unfolds into a curious companionship marked by mutual respect and cautious reserve as they prepare for their journey towards Edinburgh. Their discourse and differing perspectives upon honour, station, and propriety reveal much of the character and social temper of the age, whilst Mysie's steadfast resolve and prudent wisdom provide a subtle and engaging contrast to the knight's courtly but sometimes affected demeanour.
