The Moonlight Child
from Book Shelter Hosted by Book Shelter
A suspenseful work of fiction that follows two women as they uncover a dark secret in a quiet neighborhood. The story introduces Wendy, a grieving mother still searching for her daughter Morgan, who vanished three years prior after a period of rebellion and drug use. Parallel to this, a retiree named Sharon witnesses a young child performing late-night manual labor at a neighbor's house, despite the family having no known young daughter. After taking in Niki, a former foster child who has endured her own hardships, the two women decide to investigate the mysterious household together. Their journey begins when official channels fail to act on their suspicions of child endangerment. The narrative intertwines themes of familial loss, intuition, and the bravery required to protect those who are hidden from society.
