The Mortification of the Narcissist

The shocking reaction when people with NPD face the discrepancy between an ideal view of the self and a drastically contrasting realization. They collapse. They disintegrate. But just when you think they have been destroyed, just like the villain in Terminator who reconstructed himself after all attempts to kell him, the person with NPD resembles themselves, a newer 2.0 version of themselves who has a shinier mask and facade to cover the empty space within.
