Universal Orlando Resort and Mack Rides are facing at least five new lawsuits filed on December 18, 2025, in Orange County circuit court by attorney Nicholas Spetsas, alleging that riders of the Stardust Racers dueling roller coaster at Epic Universe suffered severe, permanent injuries—such as brain bleeds, spinal cord damage, paralysis, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries—due to their heads violently slamming repeatedly against the seat in front during rides between April and September 2025, stemming from inadequate restraints, negligent design, testing, warnings, and maintenance. These follow the September 17 death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who suffered similar blunt force head trauma (ruled accidental due to pre-existing spinal atrophy) after riding; his family, represented by Ben Crump, settled confidentially with Universal shortly after, with inspections confirming normal operation.
