The Movies And Me - Episode 8 - Callum Burn (II)

from Holmes Movies Podcast

Welcome to the eighth episode of The Movies And Me, a podcast project of ours where in each of these episodes we sit down with a filmmaker, writer, someone who works in the film industry or just someone who is a big cinephile who just lives for movies. We talk about their creative projects and also discuss their four favourite films that have inspired them to go out and have a career in film. Or four films that have least inspired them to seek out the career they have today. On this episode, we welcome back Anders's old Met Film School friend Callum Burn to the podcast. On the first episode of The Movies And Me series, we talked with Callum about his film Battle Over Britain, a Second World War film. Now, Callum is here to talk about his new film: Landship set during the First World War. The film is having it's premiere at the Raindance Film Festival on the 20th June and it will be released in select cinemas on June 26th. Following that, it will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and several streaming services to the territories the film has already been sold to. Produced through his production company Tin Hat Productions, Landship is set during the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917. Brief synopsis from their website: "At the spear head of a British offensive, the nine-man crew of Battle Tank F41 'Fray Bentos' become bogged down in a shell crater in no-man's-land, just yards from the German front line. Over the course of sixty gruelling hours, Officer Commanding, Captain Donald Richardson, struggles to maintain discipline, as he and his crew come under repeated attack from an insidious enemy that appear from nowhere out of the dense smog that hangs across the battlefield." Along with discussing the project, we discuss with Callum the kinds of films that inspired and helped shape the project. We enjoyed this chat with Callum and we look forward to seeing the film.
