In the dead of night as people sleep that is when the spirits creep as the bell tolls three Dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. This is your host Raven. This is Chad.
This is moon This is Alma and I'm whiskey. I like one-eyed whiskey. I mean after the vaster if I was gonna change my moon shine, but I think there's a story there Maybe Hear that when you're ready to tell it You know what does anybody else just still feel like I had a super busy October super busy November December's coming It's gonna be super busy finals holidays a weather change Time change I had a hoodie and a giant co-ontonay and I was still freezing my gizzard off I Already normally we kind of give you a little teaser to our investigations, but we don't have any but when we get to the investigation Section we still have stuff to talk about so there's kind of a many teaser to information I know I am Altisa at ease I am just beginning the process to reach out to a theater that we might have to do in December because they close forever soon, so Something soon so we will talk about some upcoming residential for sure, but there's some interesting stuff on there In the time and all of this cool stuff is brought to you by Castle Photo Art So go to Castle for all your photo needs I saw a couple of very interesting photos that he took of his daughter yesterday at when we were at art Thanksgiving dinner at the parents house. There's a lot of fun They just went to Moep to any got some real cool pictures in Moep with some real fun lighting and then as far as public Investigations as you know, we don't really do anything during the holidays because we want you to spend time with your family and friends And there's so much going on we don't want to add to any stress and trying to plan stuff around it But we do suggest to donate to a food bank or homeless shelter because there's a lot of people this time of year that don't have as much And could really use a hand up so we don't necessarily sponsor any particular one just look up what's popular in your area You know, maybe if you're cleaning out your closet takes some clothes to a homeless shelter or donate to a charity of your choice But there's a lot of people that would appreciate that and looking forward to maybe Early January we might do a movie we'll have to see how that goes But that will be fun.
We did one a long long time ago We know so much fun. We went to dinner and then went to a movie So we'll see if we can't figure something out to do before we do an investigation But Chad and I have gone through looking at our venues and the first few things we're gonna do for early next year and I'm looking forward to it It'll be fun. You'll just pick a Pick a what? I'm not on.
I'll just wait for a time. I'll just pick a quieter place for dinner this time before the movie That's all I'm gonna say I don't remember where we went when we went several years ago, but it was pretty quiet We saw Ghostbusters we went to Texas Roadhouse on a day where I think everybody in the local area had a birthday and It was just the loudest meals start to finish. I think I've ever had my life. I was They're always naturally just loud on a regular day, too True The cowbells it was usually I say more cowbell and I was like I know So she answered that one Also patrons I have to give you a humongous humongous apology first of all I did not get sent didn't get sent out to you the autumn Patreon package if you're a patron you get a quarterly little goody box with some swag and some other stuff and I failed to do that So if you don't have it by the time you hear this you should be getting it soon But you got autumn and fall or fall on the same thing you got autumn and winter in one beautiful purple package So I just have one left, but I'm actually gonna give that to that person in person I beg to differ.
All right. I've never autumns down to fly to stairs, but I have fallen So I think there's a difference watch for those in mail like I said You probably haven't by the time we got anything an old news raven so anyway today We're gonna talk about the gentleman y'all know about my fascination with with mummies This is I'm on the fire his last name is German and We don't know how to say it I took German in high school, but that was oh so many hot minutes ago So I might absolutely destroy this I thought I would be fancy looking up online how to say it There's like a hundred different ways to pronounce this but with my limited German Remembrance from high school German class I'm gonna say his name is Gottfried No, it's KNO CHE. We're just gonna call him Gottfried or the mama fire Because we don't like that. I like that this name So basically I'll just give you a look over view then we'll jump into talking about a morn depth He's a German lived in Venezuela and he mama fights stuff with a special fluid that he invented.
What was the era? So don't you have the? Yes, so he was born March 17th 1813 my birthday St. Patrick's day He's a Pisces and Pisces and Halberstad Germany and then he died January 2nd 1901 so like the what the 1800s kind of So I got a question if you're born and live in Germany is that during the Victorian era?
Because Victorian would be like English. Oh Is it still Victorian? It is kind of weird right now I've been I'm at working the medieval fair right now And I was like there's people who come and dress this certain things and I'm like mmm But I was like well Maybe that happened in that country at that time because you know like what happened in Japan during the medieval times I don't know like I just had those thoughts as well So I guess we should probably look down on Victorian era and I know how creepy Raven likes everything that's Victorian and Mummy so this is kind of a two for for her He didn't stay in Germany, you know, so he was he immigrated from Germany to Venezuela in 1840 So like what is even happening over there? But he did that and it was actually a good thing because so many Germans were migrating there to work the land And so as a doctor he got really popular because he could speak German for all of the immigrants and He reestablished a big hospital there the San Juan de Dios Hospital in 1854 1856 And he was really popular Dravitation was really good because he would care for patients who are poor for free and he fought against the caller epidemic to happen at the time So I don't know Victorian looking probably doctor situation there and he was just wiping.
Yeah Oh, I was gonna say that was one thing when I was reading up one of them That I thought was interesting is sometimes you read about these people and they're like super creepy But when you read about him, he doesn't sound as creepy. He actually seemed like a really good guy and just a scientist And he didn't seem like sketchy or anything. No, I think he I would say he was more of like a curious scientist kind of a person Yeah, they would be more of that vibe It's not like he was going around murdering everyone to do his science, you know, I'll all like I don't know some Frankenstein Dr. Frankenstein vibes or anything He was a German scientist.
I went to Venezuela before World War two, so He's better than most German scientists that people know that went to Venezuela Exactly, I actually I do remember looking at those days thinking that one exactly This guy have yeah, I mean it was even it was even before World War one Yep, well before the world decided to have wars or the war of worlds. Yeah, so he didn't get any creepy sketchy ideas from that Yeah, doesn't his wife and daughter come join him when he was getting established and then they want You know the wife was a nurse and his daughter was an assistant there I mean it was like a little family situation. I mean he was I mean he got his doctor degree in Germany And when he moved to Venezuela his doctor degree was actually certified there so he was he wasn't just like practicing on the slide He was actually certified in Venezuela as a doctor as well. He was legit very legit He just happened to have a fascination with not letting bodies decompose, you know I just kind of was a little passion there But yeah, he would go to the hospital and then any of the unclaimed bodies from the federal war Which is not a known non-common at the time to do he would then do his practice on and then take him to his laboratory In Hacienda Buena Vista, which is land that he was inspired to purchase because he would be horseback riding in the surrounding mountains And then he saw like a little what's called a fiend sauce Which is an area of rural land with a cudra state and so I guess his vibe was an area of rural land with a laboratory in it So that is the setting for his experiments in his family mausoleum Yeah, and one thing I thought was interesting is just kind of going back to the bodies Is they said that they would have bodies that were unclaimed from the war and one he would ask for bodies But they got to the point where they're like hey We've got these bodies go take him to to Gottfried the mama fire that they didn't call him that but we do because we can't say it's lasting So he just he was just known for and that's a thing.
I mean even back in England and Scotland and we've done some podcasts on this, you know the body snatchers It was very a common practice to practice medicine on corpses and depending on the country and the exact year There were some different rules and regulations like in England I believe at the time of the body snatchers William and Hare it had to be Bodies of convicted killers they couldn't use anybody else which is why they started the body snatching But there in Venezuela rules were a little different There's like hey we got these bodies don't know what to do with him take him to the good doctor because he's doing some good work And he was known to also bury people with his own money that couldn't afford to he really was kind of a decent guy actually Very careful and honestly I'm looking at old pictures of him not hideous for somebody like the old picture of the 1800s We normally see they look pretty like I don't know I feel like people already looked dead when you look at the country like wow This guy looks kind of chill. Yeah, I've been time traveler I don't know he just look like you know anybody's grandpa Yeah, one thing I like that I read about him like he would travel the countryside help people on horseback through Regiterate and things like that too. So he was a doctor to like everybody all over We stand him apparently We love about treat no I got free dokie But yeah, I mean so like on his land he built his lab and his mausoleum was built on top of stone which some people say like That was a testament to his strive frame mortality You know to build something such solid foundation out of you know time tested materials I was able to find a few pictures of the mausoleum and it looked like there's some nice don't work on the outside I had some like circular type patterns that I saw which remind me of some of the things you see on like mine Aztec Stuff but you know just in a small four-mausoleum not definitely not temple looking Most of it has been lost to time And there's not a lot of records of what's in there when they went on a discovery mission to go find the mausoleum again They found the bodies strewn about everywhere and a lot of like graffiti things that had happened on the inside the cell Which was interesting that they left the bodies in there because I feel like if people are gonna go and mess with that stuff Most people would steal bodies. I'm saying I would steal bodies, but like Interesting to leave them like that They don't seem to give descriptions of the state of the bodies or what they look like at that point I know there's a few pictures of some of his mummies But they seem to be pretty hush hush about whether or not the bodies are still intact because lab the only thing that I ran across Like you said, there's a few pictures that showed a few of them like in a coffin type thing with Glass over the head and the glass was broken and you can see the mummy in there They actually showed him in his coffin and I don't know how legit that was I don't know if that was I don't know what period of time that was But they did say that his mummies because it was the jungle if you look at pictures It's like super lush and green and you know vines and jungly they did say that they didn't weather very well Yeah, because I mean the ones that weather really well like they find improve or you know like really super high and there's no air and there's no moisture so I did read that they were a little less than fresh But I mean at the time in his lab it did sound like his results were really great I did see some pictures of people sitting with mummies I mean in my opinion the picture of the mummies did not look like he did an amazing crazy job of Involving them to look perfect.
I don't know all these mummies were You gotta have some trial and error in there. That's true perfect the first time you do an experiment That's why you have to steal more than one by I mean, you know, you gotta do multiple trial That's why you gotta get a lot of volunteers his lab the descriptions Honestly, just make it sound like it was a pretty normal sounding lab minus all of the dead and bomb bodies around modern day Right, we call it embalming fluid whatever he used nobody knows so nobody really knows What the setup looked like to create his version of embalming fluid? I'm sure we'll cover more that later, but Yeah, I don't know if you envision if you envision Frankenstein's lab, maybe minus like the electricity Maybe I don't know good in there who knows throw it look like lots of bottles Yeah, he had a fascination and desire to preserve bodies beyond death So he began experimenting with different chemical compounds to stall Decomposition did you hear I said stall not like completely preventant? I guess in a small lab on the ranch that was we talked about He used unclaimed corpses that we talked about from the hospital And he wrote down very detailed notes about everything he tried so that is a good scientist right there So he knows what he is working and what isn't working He created a very unique embalming fluid to keep bodies in a lifelike state without traditional mummification techniques So that's about the process he did to try to figure out how to preserve these bodies well Just add on to that the traditional mummification techniques of course are like removing your internal organs And we still do that today You get a lot of your organs removed, but he used this compound like I was talking about just directly into the body with no prep And was able to achieve good results and there's a reason why we still can't do it today Sounds like you wrote everything down, but he didn't write down exactly what was in the fluid Yeah, and I've heard people say that a lot of people will go back to where his lab and his muscles in this house We're looking for and trying to figure out what it was and no one could figure out what it was It was just all his noggin.
You know anyone to know he wanted to go down in history and he did He took it to the literal grave. Yes, he did some people I think he said that he had a nurse that was working with him You know towards throughout his career into the end and you did not know how to make it They hypothesized that it was an aluminum chloride based compound that he injected I don't know how they came across that but you can find that kind of in a lot of different sources But some people say that he had her inject him with the compound and then sealed himself in the tomb before he died Which I think is creepy. I get okay after I die Please inject this into my veins because that's all we know is that it was injected into the veins But to do it before you die and then you lock it that just seems I don't I would just it just makes me so claustrophobic to even think about that I mean that's confidence I guess if he knows he's near the end and he knows it's not gonna like his death terrible, maybe His last act of science was to inject it into a living subject and that was himself and Apparently potentially two guard dogs depending on where you read which was giving kind of Egyptian vibes Yeah, and he got really popular there's people that there's like a famous journalist that went to him There was a president of Venezuela. He was only president for a year He went to him but the journalist his last name was lander and they say that when they mummified him I don't know if mummified is really the right word they Involved him they dressed him up in real fancy clothes And he said it is desk for 40 years and the family finally had to bring in like the president of Venezuela to Make them give him a proper burial, but he just sat around in the south and sat in the clothes for 40 years Some people will say in that story that the timeline does not add up to the time read that Because if you read it sounds like lander died before Gottfried came up with a serum, but who knows maybe that was his first subject I think the other thing that's kind of funny is you know a lot of people after he died became very hostile to his legacy But the nurse who inherited basically the house and everything in that area obviously the his wife and Daughter still stayed in Germany, but they started calling her like a witch of a villa Like what a cool name.
She was just kind of a shut and taken care of everything You know why they named her that I Know I know is because she was very reclusive. They said that she could talk to birds. Yes That's all I know too. I guess I'll be right.
She got the more inclusive she got Also to one of the sources that I was looking at they called him the vampire of Al Avila And they said a lot of people thought that he was a necromancer and were trying to revive the dead like like he was a more modernish day Frankenstein, but I think those are stories from locals Because everything I read he sounds like he was just a the doctor slash scientist It makes me think about that man and key west that person trying to preserve his like I don't know why he for something and it was like, you know backyard But like this guy seemed more legit like he was truly trying to not try to be creepy I just did not let me see built a lab in his backyard instead of just using his regular back No, we did a podcast on that other guy not too long ago He was a guy that mummified the girl that he loved yeah, so this is a not creepy version of that yes So from what I read his wife went back to Germany, but his daughter and son-in-law were mummified his brother and The brothers wife apparently he had a son But no one knows what happened to the Sun and right now his hacienda and his mausoleum and you know What's left of his lab and mausoleum, and you know, it's almost Lee ruins are now in the area called the Avila National Park So I'm a I don't know what Venezuela National Park rules are but I would assume that it's somewhat protected So you may ask yeah, that's interesting and kind of creepy But is there a supernatural phenomenon to this and absolutely there is so one of his mummies They believe it was his first successful mummy They're not sure was a soldier from the war named Jose Perez and He was set up as a guard that is compound along with the dogs If you Google this gentleman not Jose, but Gottfried This is actually one of the more popular pictures kicking around and whiskey I think it's the one that you were saying when you look at the mummy he's not a really great looking mummy He looks a little de-composdish, but better than if he wasn't and it was his first so you gotta get him some trial and error Nowadays we would call it, you know with his invention. We would probably call it an embalming fluid I don't know if it's probably not the same as the embalming fluid we have now But he called it a mummification serum, which I think has a lot kind of spooky revive to it a serum Does a serum get like put on your skin instead of injected? Make sure wonder no No, but mummification serum just sounded way cooler than embalming fluid Yeah, so But one of the things is kind of where the ghost part of it comes in locals refused to go to the property because there are a lot Ghost stories despite the fact that he didn't sound like a creeper he just sounded like a scientist There was a story of a corpse who didn't want to be embalmed or have the mummification serum They said that there was a soldier that they put on a donkey and they were sending it to the farm and the head fell off of This particular body which makes it so you can't embalment probably because all the fluid or the serum doesn't stay within you And they couldn't find the body if the body disappeared they had the head but nobody poof and so they figured that particular body didn't want to be Embalmed there's a story that a visitor went to the hacienda after got free to death and drank what he thought was alcohol But it was actually this serum and he got petrified instead So that would be kind of spooky just to clarify it's on serum and fluid They're both fluid, but serum generally has a more specialized use than like active ingredients So you think fluids they're both fluids right? Which everyone you want serum just like it's a targeted fluid Yes, I just like the word serum.
It just has this mystical whimsical sound to it We could call radiator fluid radiator serum Chemicals but if it has like the little stuff that patches your radiator automatically radiator serum serum sounds expensive to me We're currently producing sage serum Working on that right as we speak it's atomized sage serum And serum to me also, I don't know this is just Raven brain So you can all feel sorry for Chad, but to me serum sounds like something that's thicker fluid could be anything So dynamics be anything back to Haunted Gottfried the neighbors in the area to his property believe that spirits of the dead live in the house Which makes sense if you're into ghost and dangerous spirits or haunted stuff You know, I don't think anybody shocked at that But the neighbors think that these spirits live in the house in the form of fireflies Which makes me wonder they're not fireflies in this area or in his house You know nowadays we just call those orbs question mark Orbs absolutely didn't think of that So if you have higher flies around your house better check those suckers out So there are people who have visited there I don't know that there's like formal visiting but you know people that have stumbled across that are gone there Just to kind of see what it's all about Say that they can feel the presence of the bird witch sitting on a bench that's in the mausoleum I also saw another legend and it says on moonlit nights the mummies come to life That would be kind of fun to see there's some bed knobs and broomstick fun and terrifying I'm like it would be fun to see you here in Venezuela, and there's mommy's walking the streets. Okay, yeah fun We're in Netflix special and I'd be out there trying to be head on how do you kill a mummy? You know each atology whether you'd you take one out I think it is like a zombie you you just cut off the head right? But zombies are mummified they have all their organs still in the money In the money in the late 90s.
It took way more to kill him Brendan Frazier Summing raw himself to take the mummy More mummies alive to kill that one it's it's it's it's it's it's mummies mummies got it Okay, I got a tangent. Oh, you guys have fireflies Did you know that there are fireflies in Utah? Yes, and there's a special program for trying to find them including on Utah Lake I know they're being tracked by a lot of life out here Yeah, there can be found from late-mate early July and most active after 930 p.m And there are a couple of different places nibley firefly park the Thompson Century farm and spring lake in pace so that might be a fun little activity would be see if we go find some fireflies Yeah, it's for a really Utah County folks. It would be spring like in spring like you're down.
I've never seen one I have a little bit of life in real life. Oh, no Caribbean Every time we go. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a firefly in real life living breathing There's okay, I did a bad thing I used to catch them and then swish them on my shirt and go look I'm glowing Which does work, but then I just murdered many of them and I just didn't know I was a little but I used to just smear them all over me That's the hard long be haunted by Lake books for my book. No, okay You know what if I'm haunted by anything it's going to be daddy long legs because when Castle and I were little oh an earwigs Oh earwigs we would take earwigs and you could make these little rocket launchers out of paper clips and tin foil and Matches and you could send the earwigs shooting off Into space so well space.
I mean Ambassador who's cute just horrified. He's like these poor country Okay, I was an angel compared to you guys. I mean alright listen my mom tried to protect her roses from snails Okay, and I had a crossbow and sometimes I would go outside with my crossbow and load up a snail on there and Send it just he didn't just fake salt on him. No wait, that's you want to torture them?
I'm not a serial killer. I might have done that once and then I thought horrible never did that again I gave that snail the time of their life. They flew they experienced everything and then they cracked open on the ground for a birdie Her cool circle life. Okay, apparently we're gonna have to do a animal podcast on the serial killers of Serial bug killers the ecological impact of Supernatural the next podcast is ten bugs haunt you But being she's breed oh sure can maybe we're not being haunted by ghosts.
Maybe we're just stealing the spirits all the bugs we tormented You When you have that random itch No, how did this even happen in this conversation? We got here, you know what? He started a tangent wheel around the tangent's tangenting good job, Chad All right, so going on to our next segment the whiskey barrel, which is sponsored by the mystic frog take it away The music frog for those guys who don't know is a metaphysical store in Utah we got lots of stuff like more rocks and you can even imagine more rocks and they know what to do with if you ask them about it So when they're you get anything with traffic books anti with traffic books rocks you name it maybe equipment from whiskey who knows? When I heard putting together quite the selection of equipment speaking of equipment All right, then the whiskey barrel I have an idea for a new piece of equipment and I hear you Raven I haven't drilled into your box yet.
It's chill in there. Okay. I went out of town It was a whole thing fine investigation that happened while we were out of town that moon I'll have to talk about later in the investigation segment What was going on in there, but you know I was like I Let me just let me just the teaser here is that they're like I don't know if we're gonna have a little investigate I'm like I have no proof that there being beat isn't haunted and I turned out to not be wrong So You did tell me that with your work, it's a really busy time. So I'm good.
That's true. That's true I did say that who knows if that's true or not I have an idea for any piece of equipment that I actually saw Based off of a youtuber a scientist youtuber that was showing how to make like magnetic wax basically It was pretty cool You can like freeze the state of electrons and wax to make it work as an electromagnet So to show the magnetic field of it He actually made a grid of lights that trigger based off of like the static energy and so I was like wait a second That's a great idea for paranormal thing. So I am going to make a four by four grid that Operates solely off a static energy and so when I say four by four lights each direction right big square not too big enough so that we can put maybe in each corner like a yes, no a maybe area and we could potentially watch Something an unseen static field. It can't be set off a radio magnets purely to static move to the answer that it's giving us In current state, right?
We just we can say like go to the left go to the right go stand in front of this with our thermal leak detectors And it does or it doesn't but it could set the ground work for something pretty cool Which I think the first time we ever see something give us an answer by moving its hand or whatever it moves It's energy from one spot to the other and we can see the size of it off or by for it technically I can increase the resolution but that I mean putting a lot of sensors close together So at a certain point, you know, I don't know how specific static fields are in the paranormal But it could be groundbreaking I think it would be pretty crazy if you see like you know like rest these two lights or like something that resembles a hand in that very low Resilu-colo resolution so that's my idea more to come on that I gotta kind of design it design everything three print it up and maybe I'll take a stab at it in my little bit of time off here for Thanksgiving coming up so Yeah, stay tuned well, maybe you know we brought out we brought a bell out I'm gonna redesign the bell so next year public investigations. There's gonna be some new stuff and we'll have to test it out House calls so make sure you keep calling this to be awesome in your house because I think it's a test I can't test them in places that aren't haunted. I guess I could use my house, but they get bored with me Anyways, thanks for listening to the whiskey barrel. You got any junk going on Raven?
You know, I do I always always Half of it is my thoughts that come out my butt I digress So the junk drawer is brought to you by the he-wish performing arts and cultural event center pace or also known as the he-wish and So as I was kind of looking around and rattling through the junk drawer I found some very interesting stories and these are basically I Found them titled when I was doing research as a badass email ghost So you want to hear about a couple badass email ghosts? Another really good Okay, so we're just gonna talk about two there's actually six but some of them we've already done like full podcast So we're just gonna talk about two tonight. So the there's one called woman with a slit mouth have you heard of her? I hadn't heard of her before It sounds weird too Joker Scars Yeah, so this is actually a Japanese urban legend and it's a story of a ghost and again I don't speak Japanese either known as Kuchasake Ona And she first kind of made her parents known in the late 70s and like the Joker her mouth is cut from ear to ear But she only targets children She doesn't like children and so what she'll do is she'll come up to these kids and she's hidden behind a surgical mask And then she removes the mask and then she'll ask the child if she thinks she's beautiful So it's kind of like I don't know like a creepy version of snow white or something I don't know and if they say no, she's not beautiful She attacks him with scissors and if they say yes, you are beautiful.
She slits their mouth so that they could look Just like her so it's kind of a lose lose lose I mean your kids aren't gonna get out of this either way, but that just seems super creepy and I wish you could almost see whiskey space right now I said badass female ghost So I thought they're out here like the first ghost to land on the moon or something and you're like those sad kids no matter what happens I didn't say it was necessarily good If it's on the bad emphasis on the bad. Yeah Keep in mind I didn't name this article is what the name is online. So they're wrong So yeah, so if someone comes up to you and asks you Behind a surgical mask if they're beautiful or not and they're not just in a way don't answer Man, call Batman. All right, so the next one is a spirit name Jenny or if you're from you know, Forrest Gump, Jen, A Or Jenny from the block Yes, but Jenny lots of Jenny's lots of Jenny's so this story is actually comes from West Virginia We're gonna bring it back to the US and it was a woman named Jenny and she lived in a shack near the train tracks And one night she's trying to keep warm by the fire because you know She's chattelling a little bit of moon and she doesn't like it when it's cold She has a hoodie so she gets this fire going on and her skirt caught on fire And that's a bad thing as we all learned is gone Oh, they teach us anymore, but the whole stop drop and roll Honestly, when I was a little I thought stopping dropping and rolling was gonna be a bigger thing But you know whatever so she got kind of in this frenzy as you would if you're close caught on fire And so she started running down the tracks in the direction of the train station You know asking for help and unfortunately she did not see the train coming and you can guess what happens next She didn't necessarily survive.
It wasn't from her skirt catching up there. He's a flat-ass I would have just taken off my fire skirt problem solved. Well, you know if they have something easy back then I know they didn't have stop dropping roll back then if she's not about that We wouldn't be talking about her but legend says that on the anniversary of her death She returns and she can be seen running down the tracks caught in the ball of fire. She's gonna be for help So there's the story of Jenny, but I know I said I was gonna do too But I think if we want to talk about a truly badass Female ghost in the sense of bad ass that I think y'all were expecting this one.
I think we'll do it Y'all know who Dolly Madison is. Oh Yes, she makes really really good pastries. I was just gonna say not the pastry Dolly Madison Yes, James Madison's James Madison's wife in the first lady of the United States Yes, back in the 17 something's in the 1970s if you watched the Snoopy Christmas and the Great Pumpkin cartoons on TV There was Dolly Madison pastry commercials And Chad and I are the only people on the podcast old enough to remember that as I'm getting blank stares from All of us are born in the 80s So I'm not so what late 80s only cow and we older than everybody all right So Dolly Madison was known for her rose garden. See for the rose gardens of the White House, right?
Yes, so she's the one that started those and she was just a social butterfly everybody loved her She was very charming. She was very gracious a lot of grace and poise. She passed away in October of 1807 and There's a rumor that another first lady who is unnamed I'm not because I'm trying to protect them But it literally is not named tried to dig up her rose gardens decided for whatever reason She didn't like him doesn't really say why she wanted to do her own thing and Dolly Madison was like huh, and she returned from the grave to scare the gardeners away So moral of the story is don't touch a woman's garden not good and I can happily report that Dolly Madison's rose garden is still there I got another tangent for you. Oh, no wait a minute.
Wait a minute. Hold the tangent on the tangent because I've got one too So is that more more badassy? We're looking in old lady way My tangent is a Dolly Madison tangent and it is even more badassy. Okay, who yours first?
Well, mine is just a Dolly Madison. I don't really remember what the the pastries were But I think there was a raspberry filled something earlier. No That's bad. I know Dolly part Billy There's a famous medicine.
I'm a mom I bet there's a famous portrait of George Washington that everybody sees it's the one in the White House and everything there That was painted by a famous American painter back when George Washington was alive It was Dolly Madison that during the war of 1812 cut that portrait out of the frame and rolled it up and smuggled it out of the White House Before the British troops could burn the White House down because they did burn the White House down But she actually saved that portrait that historic portrait of George Washington. So she was better than that. Yes. Yeah Yeah, come get you she'll cut you out Okay, so we were talking about We had one schedule that we were going to talk about but they got sick and we have to reschedule it And then we have a second one that does everything going on with the holidays They didn't want to schedule it until December so we've got to confirmed that we just need to get scheduled But whiskey and the moon it sounds like you guys had one Yes, we went on a paranormal adventure to Las Vegas It's pretty cool.
We just played a little trip with a couple of the crew. We went to the mom museum Which was pretty awesome. There's actually mobsters there while we were there so that was kind of scary But the stories were cool went to the high museum which we all kind of had different experiences there But the true investigation that we took part in was at our Airbnb and so I kind of joke and there's like, you know We'll bring everything and the reason we're going to the museum is a gym kind of hey Let's meet up so we went out there wants to meet up again So shout out to the GM on museum Richard of yeah but I was like that's just for our stuff maybe there'd be a piece on who knows the pack all my things everybody kind of brought their little things and First thing that happened before I even got upstairs. I was told what room I had to sleep in because everybody else got the Gb's from that room and it did feel weird in there But if I have someone's got sleep in there all sleep in there also all sleeps in there I mean the pillows were terrible But it was kind of a strange feeling I don't know if you want to describe the feeling you had in there It was so heavy I well even in the hallway like as you walk in the hallway you could feel something and then I walked in that room And it was almost like you couldn't breathe.
It was like yeah I couldn't catch my breath in my chest and just felt something. I was on the couch. I was sleeping in the car I was sleep somewhere else, but not here So it was messed up like I was glad that he was brave and was willing to sleep there because no one else was willing to do it We did sleep on the main floor by like the front door So that is maybe the sketchiest room for someone to sleep and we're off-striped So it's not we're in we're crazy, but I mean if you're scared of anything you would think that'd be the room But that was weird and then so we did some investigating we got some activity mostly we were all just having a silly goofy time So in between watching go shows together and investigating at the same time We just kept hearing like somebody running up and down the stairs whole disclosure It seems like there might have been some kind of violent altercation that happened in that house It looked like some of the doors had holes patched in them. It looked like somebody maybe had fallen down the stairs But everything was kind of slightly painted over and just arrived so that the vibe was off and every room had like vents above the door So ventilation wasn't a big deal.
There was really no reason for it to feel heavier in there So yeah, the craziest things would happen though and we all went to sleep I am a fairly light sleeper and so you know, I'm always like worry about everybody else and I swear to you I heard somebody Come up to my door Hang out there for a second and then start walking away And so I was like maybe they were trying to see if I was awake like they wanted something I don't know so I get up and I look no one's there I go all the way down the stairs because I thought maybe moon needed something everyone's asleep not a peep in the house Not a door opener close everybody's door was closed I would have heard a door closed from somebody nothing and then all my way go back upstairs I go to the bathroom across my room and when I come out of that bathroom I hear somebody run like full speed up behind me and stop right behind me and I like I'm grabbing my door handle I just like turn expecting to see Batman for some reason I don't think you mess with me But I'm like there's nobody else with that much energy at this time at night So I don't know what's going on no one was there literally no one was there that was before or after you went on before I was before and It was just like We the best the best way I can describe that entity is it was a lurker and it seemed like there were two Maybe one older and one younger, but it just it walked around all night Just walking around Nick said that it sounded like somebody walked into her room and just stood next to her bed staring at her And she like felt them staring and I was like, you know, I think you didn't open your eyes because it doesn't want me It was everybody's had this experience with like you would just hear Someone else somewhere else in the house when everyone is accounted for we did we hear like a big slam from something too? Yes, I went down so we were all upstairs watching and kind of hunting We got some K2s going off and some cat balls and some words on devices But we heard a big slam downstairs and we're like what was that so I'm like I'm gonna go look so I go down there Nothing is out of order the house was like super cute and pretty new I would say it was like maybe like 2000 tens or something Like it was fairly new but we all know that doesn't matter it could be brand new and it's haunted But like Sunday morning so the morning we were leaving I got up to use the restroom I was like the first one up I think or at least downstairs anyways And I heard like this big slap in my room after I left it. I was like what in the world was that I didn't touch anything I didn't touch my luggage. I just got out of bed and there was stuff going on there.
Whatever it was near me If there was something there because I let whiskey say what he saw on Friday night But near my room, but whatever was near me did not feel scary to me So I was like alright, maybe it's like some protector type of person I don't know what it was but there was something near me and whiskey has He saw something there. So I'll let him tell you Yeah, like that's the thing is it didn't feel scary and so I don't know if it was residual from a violent encounter that happened there But it wasn't really intelligent But it was doing things that like would seem scary like a lot of noises in the lurking It just felt super inquisitive and I think it felt like these people know that I'm here So I'm gonna keep like seeing what they're up to but I was I called my mom and face time to let her know we got there and everything I got car pulled out there and I was like, yeah, you want to see the house really quick? So I'm walking around and just before I turn to go up the stairs that are right next to the entryway To the room moon was staying and I see just a full blown Shake of a person just like two steps down the hallway I don't say anything to anybody and I just waited I had only told my mom at that point So she didn't say anything back to FaceTime when I brought up to her is it saying anything? I just kind of kept it to myself until there was an experience because like I don't want to set everybody off And we I think at that point is when we heard our first knock afterwards and I was like Interesting because downstairs I literally just saw something go like We might have to go out there again, maybe we'll book that We have to that sounds like it would be a fantastic investigation We also got some Henderson Nevada apparently is built on a lot of like burial grounds and stuff like that According to my aunt Sue who met us at the Luxor there's also a haunted location that we kind of just walked around in to gamble You know, whatever mostly just eight before we went about our day But Henderson Nevada said has like a haunted bar.
That's very popular and like a lot of us just built on Native ground so about the same distances are here maybe where we were at previously we might move to check out to Yes All right guys Do you want to give the gift of mental health and healing this year to yourself or to your loved ones? I know Lady does perfect for the job and that's Laura Dong CCHT at new Don DAWN Hypnotherapy calm she can set you up for success and happiness to live your best life in 2025 And she's right she is right all right guys. So moon tells with moon time So we're talking about the beaver moon a little bit last week. I guess what I was curious what the heck, you know The beaver moon yes, okay, so we're gonna go back to some stories, but they'll be a little bit different I'll put a little different spin on them.
So let's start with like where the beaver moon came from, you know So in November 2024 the beaver moon was the fourth and last super moon of the year So it was extra intense and that makes a lot of sense because the beaver moon happened to be on the night We got to Vegas. So it was a full moon, okay So that might be haunted Airbnb. Yeah, that might be why we got so much crazy activity that weekend But let's go back because I'm jumping around here So I got his name the beaver moon as it was time to set traps aboard swamps rose over to ensure you could get a good supply of first for the winter time So, you know that was back in the day not these days probably also is time when beavers are most active in preparing for the winter So fun little fact we drove through the city of Beaver, Utah the day of the full beaver moon and And so we stayed in Vegas and it was a full moon that night and we went to the haunted museum like the next day and stuff But yeah, we got into that Airbnb and like as I thought about it I'm like oh my gosh It was the full moon and we had all these crazy experiences We made whiskey stay in the haunted room because we're all like Not any of us also a major missed opportunity for beaver you taught and I have a beaver moon party every year I was so disappointed that there was no beaver moon merch. There was no like I might we need to show up there every V room and be like hey, where's the party?
Here's the problem. I think if they had a beaver party Based on everything because I've been to be for several times. I think it would go in a much different direction So maybe it's good that they don't know You know it depends what you're into on could say is I would tend to be repartied Gonna add moon to that No Gather together and build to him's I don't know it sounds fine. Yeah, okay.
I'm we can start those traditions or set ghost traps. I don't know Well another this could be paranormal guy kind of funny story while we're at the Airbnb So we're sitting around the family room area upstairs and it's late guys. We're tired. We traveled all day This could be paranormal Batman just does this summer sell over the ottoman Nobody was expecting and so did the full moon affect him?
I don't know it he definitely could have gotten some extra He was a full summer so over the ottoman I was like a purposeful summer solder if he just tripped and no We were all dead tired and when they showed up he was just a hundred percent gas I don't know what happened, but he was it was infectious It got us able to hunt because he was so high energy. He was in the light of the full moon the most at night probably That was also post Gordon Ramsay meals. Oh, he was probably feeling good about that. Yeah, he was having him.
He was living his best life Summer's on all over so speaking of good food if you are in You talk. Yeah, you've got to come to Oteos They're good friends of ours. We're kind of in talks. We can't do something with them again in the future Fantastic.
If you've never been there you need to go check them out They're parking lots full on semi-derivine. It's always full. I've never been there when it's not just check full And usually if even if they're not opening up, there's always people out in the parking lot waiting, so Velma what kind of conspiracy theories and or hoaxes have you got for us? Okay, so in the many many hundreds episodes that we've had our podcast have you ever talked about the crying boy paintings?
Does it hope not? Yes, but it has been a while so let's hear it. Okay, so they're created by Giovanni a bag Brad Golan, but he also went by the name of Bruno Amadio and it were created he created this series of paintings in the 50s and 60s of crying children And they became known as the crying boys and they were popular in homes across Europe because they believed to symbolize post-war sorrow And according to legend, they were modeled by orphaned children so a lot of vibes going into the painting and they say the curse began in the ninth-third mysterious house fires And something they had in common that the paintings were hung in undamaged during the fire And so the British tabloids in 1985 the son reported that dozens of fires across England left the paintings untouched and I was thinking like well If there's so many in there there's bound to be some houses with fires with the paintings in there But then there's whites read panic about removing these paintings and some theories that the tragic expression of the children's faces invited sympathetic Magic drawing misfortune to their surroundings or that they had a ventral spirit punishing anyone who displayed it But they were saying that possibly The theory is that they were mass-produced with a special type of urnish that made them fire resistant It makes me be like why don't we get one and try to light it with a fire and see what happens The science in me Psychology suggests the curse is a product of confirmation bias because there were so many people that had it They only focus on the bad things that happened to the houses and there will be thousands more that nothing happened to Um, however Some people still claim that other things happened in their lives when they got one A collector said that once they had it in their house they experienced a series of electrical malfunctions and minor fires Okay, so where those what caused the fires in the other houses was it also electrical malfunctions? I don't know and their family and another one said their family had a bunch of misforions like illnesses and financial troubles And paranormal investigators think that maybe it was the painting was like a conduit for trapped spirits possibly that of a child who met a tragic fate So is it just confirmation bias or a weird, you know varnish?
We don't know Well, and then something I don't I mean it's been a long time since we've done this as a podcast But one thing that I thought of just now as you were talking about it that I don't think I thought of back in the day was You know when we talk about you know how curses can be real if you have this painting and you believe that it is what it is and has this You know spirit attached to it or whatever Is that going to invite a spirit in and or draw a spirit to there? Could some of them have an attachment of some sort because you believe that it has one and that is in a way an invitation The big box is a great example of that. It's one of you know They claim to the most haunted object right a lot of people are scared of it But the creator of the divot box actually came out and said he made whole thing up and it's a wine box But if enough people believe in it, it definitely gets powered because there are some legitimate stories tied to immediate negative consequences On touching the box Then you got you guys solid at the haunted museum, right? Because I remember seeing that it's very heavy in that room Very heavy in there Every in the whole place really the thing that I thought was interesting is you know, we'll salt things You know occasionally, but it's just a little bit of salt, but that's got like two inches of salt Even no question Alrighty, well, we just want to give we have a little shout out at the end of the podcast to radio run But I want to give a personal shout out to them.
They are fantastic folk and we just want to give them a little bit of love and a spooky my own difference. Hey, have a good night. Talk to you guys later. Bye See y'all next time
