The Murder of Alexa and Colonial Transphobia

It is not enough to talk about a sovereign and free Puerto Rico without discussing how inclusive we imagine the free nation of Puerto Rico would be. For that reason, in this episode we talk about the death of Alexa, a trans Puerto Rican woman, and how her rejection was inspired on colonial religious ideas that came first from Spain and later from US evangelization. We also discussed how some colonial policies stigmatize poor and disadvantaged communities making the lives of trans women more vulnerable as they have less protective factors such as being kicked out from their homes or excluded and talked about in dehumanizing ways.
