The Myrrh-Bearing Women - Met. Sevastianos - April 26, 2026

from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

This Sunday, Metropolitan Sevastianos joined us for the ordination of Deacon Haralambos. During his homily, he drew our attention to the Gospel reading, where we hear of the myrrh-bearing women. These women went to the tomb to anoint the dead body of Christ, and instead found an angel who told them he was resurrected.Metropolitan Sevastianos encouraged us to be like these women, doing acts of love and mercy to open the gates of paradise. He emphasized the importance of even simple acts that we can do out of love for God and love for each other. Finally, Metropolitan Sevastianos reminded us of the temporary nature of our struggles, urging us to keep our eyes on the resurrected Christ.
