The Names of God (5)-al-Raheem, "the Compassionate"

After too long a hiatus, Dr. Marc Applebaum and I have returned with the fifth episode in our series on the Names of God, centered around the Sufi mystical tradition of the 99 Names. This episode comes at the end of Ramadan and arrives into a world desperately in need of mercy, compassion, empathy. Following closely from its relation to al-Rahman, "the Merciful", in our last episode, this name opens further spiritual vistas. We examine some of these resonances and motifs and engage the discussions of al-Ghazali and al-Tilimsani in connecting our own experience and reflections on al-Raheem.
