The Narcissistic Family

Narcissistic personality disorder derives from a narcissistic environment. In Healthy family settings each member plays a role based on the dynamics. In a narcissistic family, a member is given a role based on the mood and manipulation integrated by the narcissistic member who holds the most “control”. The family (cast) is as follows: 1. The Narcissist (Tyrant) 2. The Enabler/Codependent (supporter) 3. The Flying Monkeys (Manipulated band wagoners) 4. The Golden Child (idealized child) 5. The Scapegoat (blamed victim - later turned Black-sheep) Others not mentioned: The Lost Child (forgotten child) The Mascot (family clown) The Hero (caretaker of family) No matter the role, ALL are victims of a form of manipulative abuse. Narcissism goes beyond vanity, cockiness, and self absorption. Psychological abuse is detrimental and extremely hazardous
