Mankind was created holy in God image and likeness but God also gave us freewill, the power to walk away. Adam and Eve chose to disobey and their choice introduce death or separation from God into this world. Let them we are also separated from God when we chose to bow the knee to sin. God wanting reconciliation with mankind sent his first begotten Son Jesus to become the mediator between himself and mankind. Jesus came as the lamb of God the atoning sacrifice for mankind sins and through him intimacy with God can be restored. Jesus refers to this process as new birth or being born again as being reconnected with God. What happens is that God put his Spirit in you as a guide to holiness to living a sin free life. The wages of sin is death or separation from God but through the new birth by receiving Jesus as savior we can be reconciled with God
