The New Race War

from THINK BEFORE YOU SLEEP · host THINK BEFORE YOU SLEEP

A black man is killed by a white police officer. A white woman is murdered by a black teenager. The media calls one tragedy a systemic crisis and the other an isolated incident. The country chooses sides before the facts emerge. This is not justice. This is the new race war.In this episode, I examine the phenomenon of racialized violence in modern America where the victim's identity often matters more than the evidence. The data shows that interracial violence is statistically rare, accounting for less than 10 percent of all homicides . Yet these cases dominate headlines because they fit a narrative. When a black man is killed by a white officer, activists march. When a white woman is killed by a black teenager, the story disappears. Both are tragedies. Both deserve equal outrage. But outrage has become a weapon wielded by political tribes who care less about the victim than about the score. The new race war is not fought with guns and knives. It is fought with hashtags and news cycles. The casualties are truth and the possibility of unity.Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because the war is not between races. It is between those who want to heal and those who profit from division.
