Also writing for The Daily Beast early in his career, Bouie became Slate magazine's chief political correspondent in 2014 before working with the Times starting in 2019. An accomplished writer and photographer, Jamelle Bouie received 2021's Hillman Prize for Opinion & Analysis Journalism followed by an election into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2024.
