Though Kathy has been running from her past and paralyzed by fear for her daughter's safety, Johnny challenges her cowardice and urges her to show Jill courage instead of teaching her to live in fear.In a powerful moment, Kathy finally breaks down and admits the truth: she witnessed the murder, heard Pryker beg for his life, and saw Shurn standing over the body with a gun. She agrees to testify if Johnny will stand by her through the ordeal. As the storm clears and dawn approaches, Johnny holds both Kathy and little Jill, experiencing what he values in his expense account as a million-dollar feeling of having helped someone find their courage.
