Luna tells the story of a call she received one winter night from a payphone at the Dead Man's Curve rest stop outside of Ely, Nevada. The caller was a woman named Maia, stranded after her car broke down, but the call wasn't about the car. As Luna listened, Maia described the other cars pulling over, the headlights that didn't stop, and the quiet knocking on the phone booth glass. The call ended with static and a click. Luna never found out what happened to her.
