A quiet September night in Atwater, Texas, 1997. Luna’s car overheats on a county highway, and she walks to the only light she can see: a grocery store still open at two in the morning. Inside, the night clerk is a young man named Caleb, who seems relieved to have company. He talks about his grandmother who owned the store, and about strange sounds he’s been hearing from the back room. At first, Luna thinks it’s rats, but then the knocking starts. Caleb shows her the boarded-up door to the old meat locker—a door he’s never opened. And as the knocking gets louder, Luna realizes that some things are better left unseen.
