In the summer of 2005, Luna spent a week at the Bluebell Motor Lodge outside Prineville, Oregon — a faded motor court with a cracked pool and a sign that buzzed after midnight. The room was fine at first. Clean sheets, a television that played static on channel three, a bathroom with a clawfoot tub that she barely noticed. But on the third night, she woke to the sound of water running. Not the faucet — the drain. A slow, deliberate sound like something was filling the tub from below.
